Why I went back to static sites

After years of running dynamic blogs, I moved everything back to plain HTML. Pages load instantly, there is nothing to patch at 2am, and the whole site fits in a git repository.

The trade-off is writing a little more by hand, which turns out to be a feature: it keeps posts short and focused.
